Marquee question?

We are planning to marry and would like our wedding at home. We have a field which we could erect a marquee but I'd like to know if I need permission to do this. There are neighbours across the road from the field so I am concerned about the noise levels. If anyone has an experience knowledge who can help, I'd be grateful.
