How do artists lofts pencils compare to crayola?

Im buying a set of colored pencils, and i do want the good quality ones but i dont have all the money to spend and I wont even be using them that often. I cant even use the crayolas...they are so bad for actually artwork thats not kids crafts. Theyre so waxy and hard and impossible to erase. I tried some prismas and theyre wonderful. I was also looking into prismacolors and polychromos but they are so expensive and for my purposes, if the artists loft ones are cheaper but still better than crayola and good quality and similar to those high end ones, i might just go with them.
