Question for umpires...say there is a play at the plate and the runner never touches home and the catcher does?

the runner is out. Hes tells the player he never touched home plate and by going into the dugout, he has left the field of play and is out. The umpire does not signal anything until the player reaches the dugout. that is when he makes the out call.
